On November 29 and 30, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) will present its work in some 30 research institutions, museums and galleries, marking the 150th anniversary of its establishment.

HAZU Open Days will feature numerous presentations, launches, concerts, exhibitions and lectures by HAZU members in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, Split, Zadar and other towns.

The event will start with a news conference at the HAZU headquarters at which HAZU president Zvonko Kusic will present the academy's achievements in 2011.

Croatia's umbrella science and art institution is marking its 150 anniversary this year in memory of 29 April 1861, when Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer held a speech in the Croatian parliament which set the legal foundations for HAZU's establishment.
